Southern New Mexico holds a gypsum wonderland- White Sands National Monument. It has the beauty of a fresh snow, but the weather that keeps you happy.
The gift shop sells sleds for $16 (and buys them back when you're done for $5 if you keep the receipt). They also sell cubes of sled wax for $2, supposedly they make the sleds glide faster.

Time visited: Mid-February. Highly recommended- the crowds were few and the weather perfect.
Recommendations: BYOS. Bring your own sleds if you can, for a cheaper option.
The only thing missing was Napoleon Dynamite's grandma and her boyfriend doin' work on the dunes.
